Modus Energy

Modus Energy is a focused division of the Modus Vivendi Group, providing new installation and retro-fit renewable energy solutions across London and the Home Counties, for domestic and commercial buildings.

Solar PV

Solar PV systems capture the sun's energy using photovoltaic (PV) cells. The cells convert the sunlight into electricity, which can be used to run household appliances and lighting. PV cells do not need direct sunlight to work, and can still generate some electricity on a cloudy day, with an average 25 year life span. Photovoltaic Systems do not generate greenhouse gases, meaning a typical domestic system can save approximately 1.2 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year, equating to almost 30 tonnes over a system's lifetime.

As we move away from fossil fuels, power cuts and outages are highly likely to become more and more frequent as the grid struggles under the pressure. When you have a solar PV system fitted, you are far less likely to be affected, and with the addition of a Tesla Powerwall, you can benefit from a seamless backup solution.

Solar Thermal

Solar water heating systems use solar panels, called collectors which are fitted to your roof. These collect heat from the sun and use the energy to heat up water which is stored in a hot water cylinder. A boiler or immersion heater can be used as a back-up to heat the water further to reach the temperature you require.

Air Source Heat Pumps

Air source heat pumps (ASHPs) absorb heat from the outside air. This heat can then be used to heat radiators, underfloor heating systems, or warm air convectors and hot water in your home.

An air-to-water system distributes heat via your wet central heating system. Heat pumps work much more efficiently at a lower temperature than a standard boiler system would. This makes them more suitable for underfloor heating systems or with larger radiators, which give out heat at lower temperatures over longer periods of time. They can get heat from the air even when the temperature is as low as -15°C. Heat pumps have some impact on the environment as they need electricity to run, but the heat they extract from the air, is constantly being renewed naturally.

Electric Vehicle Charging Points

As electric vehicles are becoming more and more popular, demand is growing for easily accessible charging via an external power source, i.e. at a charge-point. Modus Energy are able to assist with the installation of charge-points at your home or workplace, providing end-to-end vehicle charging solutions, from design to deployment and ongoing management, maintenance and support.

Smart Charging

With a smartphone app, you can control your charging quickly and easily; start, stop and unlock your charger remotely to prevent others from using it.

Schedule Charging

You can specify when you require your car to be fully charged by, the start time of charging, and the maximum charge rate.

Solar Charging

Integrate a solar PV solution and set up your charging sessions for when the sun is shifting. Our solutions provide solar matching functionality, reading the power being generated by your solar panels and matching it with power from the grid.

Money Saving

Select your energy tariff and let the smart app automatically work out when the cheapest time to charge your is.

Battery Storage

The same ground-breaking Tesla battery technology that has revolutionised the electric car market is also available to power your own home - The Tesla Powerwall allows homeowners and commercial property owners to store clean solar energy for use at any time of the day or night, and incorporates all the smart technology you would expect from Tesla. The Powerwall is effectively a battery that stores energy, detects outages and automatically becomes your home’s energy source when there is a power cut. Unlike generators, The Tesla Powerwall keeps your lights working without upkeep, fuel or noise.

A standalone solar PV system will shut down during a power cut, but when integrated with a Tesla Powerwall, the solar panels will continue to produce energy that can be stored and utilised. A Backup Gateway provides protection from power cuts, to ensure the safety and longevity of the equipment is maintained. This is an attractive feature for homeowners and businesses needing to keep lights on critical and equipment functioning during grid outages.

Depending on the technology you are looking to install, there may be a suitable grant available to assist with funding your project. There may also be a reduced VAT liability, so please get in touch with us to arrange a call or appointment to see how we can best advise and assist you.
