SENIOR SMART HOME & AV INSTALLATIONS ENGINEER

Modus Vivendi is a privately owned premier Smart Home systems integration & Electrical company.  We are a lively and dynamic company, proud of what we do, and proud of what we have achieved over the past 18 years.  Our projects range from single room home cinema systems to fully integrated multi-million pound properties and beyond.

We are currently looking to expand our team and recruit an energetic, enthusiastic and experienced Senior Installation Engineer who is now looking for a long term career as opposed to ‘just a job’. The ideal candidate will be humble, hardworking and good with people to be a good fit for our team.

Based from our office in Maidstone, working on projects predominantly located in Kent, but occasionally in London and the Home Counties.
 

The main purpose of the role is to maintain high levels of customer service through on-site attendance installing, commissioning & servicing systems.  You shall develop and sustain excellent customer relations, whilst providing first class technical support for planned and reactive resolutions.
 

Job Role
 

  • Installation and commissioning of Smart Home, Home Cinema, Audio Visual and Networking equipment
  • Carrying out small works installations including configuration and commissioning of new equipment, and client project hand overs
  • Fault finding and troubleshooting on and off-site
  • Interpretation of AV schematics and construction drawings
  • Attending on-site co-ordination meetings if required
  • Maintaining accurate up-to-date installation records
  • Reporting to the Project Manager and representing them in their absence
  • Liaising with other internal departments, clients and contractors
  • Commitment to safe working practices and maintaining Health and Safety requirements
  • Provide support to Trainee/Junior Engineers
  • Administration, as required to support the role
  • Attend training courses, as necessary

Knowledge and Experience
 

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience within the residential AV/Home Automation Industry
  • Possess a good underpinning technical knowledge of IT Networks, Electronics and Audio Visual Systems
  • Competent knowledge and experience of related equipment and systems, including; Crestron, Control4, Cisco, Ubiquiti, Ruckus, Rako and Lutron
  • Competent to a good level of computer/IT literacy 
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, and be able to communicate professionally at all levels with clients, professional teams, site management and contractors
  • Professional and approachable attitude to clients, contractors and other members of the team
  • Ability to plan, organise, prioritise and work under pressure is essential
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently            
  • Ability to think laterally, finding an appropriate solution to fulfil an application
  • Ability to work to the highest quality standards with attention to detail, ensuring that we complete our work thoroughly and never walk away from a problem
  • High personal standards of presentation
  • Excellent time keeping  
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • CSCS

  • £35,000.00 to £45,000.00 (dependent on experience) + Performance related bonus

JUNIOR AV & SMART HOME INSTALLATIONS ENGINEER

  • First Fix installation of cabling and containment
  • Second Fix installation of Smart Home, Home Cinema, Audio Visual & Networking equipment

Knowledge and Experience
 

  • 1 to 3 years’ experience within the AV/Home Automation or similar industry
  • Ideally possess some knowledge of related equipment and systems, including; Crestron, Control4, Cisco, Ubiquiti, Ruckus, Rako and Lutron
  • Competent to a good level of computer/IT literacy 
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, and be able to communicate professionally at all levels with clients, professional teams, site management and contractors
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently            
  • Ability to think laterally, finding an appropriate solution to fulfil an application
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work to the highest quality standards with attention to detail, ensuring that we complete our work thoroughly and never walk away from a problem
  • High personal standards of presentation
  • Excellent time keeping
